Australian women’s fashion label Sass&Bide revealed its SS14
collection yesterday at NYFW. Naming their collection 'Freetown' the designs
exhibited today were, in their own words, 'an exploration of mixed worlds'.
Their designs incorporate a mix of fresh prints and intricate hand
embroidery. Prints on show today included perhaps their most stand-out print
polka dot, alongside plaid, and dogtooth- a daring and bold aesthetic typical
of these designers from down under.
The collection blends rich tones including
navy, blood red, white and gold to create a sumptuous palette of tones that is
likely to dominate the high-street come SS14.
‘Embellishments celebrate the female form
while modern lines honour the masculine’. This holistic approach is
characteristic of Sass&Bides SS14 collection. Layering took on a whole new
level when apparently mismatched prints were seamlessly blended in a package of
couture on a whole new level. The most astonishing piece was a diamond-check blouse
combined with monochrome print skirt-absolutely divine. Another stand-out piece
was a printed two piece short and long-sleeved top that caught the eye of the
audience instantly with pictures and first-hand initial reports causing a
twitter storm.
Cinched in waists, skirts over trousers and double prints accurately
describe their SS14 collection.
